Poutine Sliders Recipe! – Manila Poturnak Favorite

As someone who grew up in Chicago I was very familiar with poutine and how delicious it is. My brother, Brian Poturnak recently moved to Canada where poutine originated, and Brian was telling me how much poutine he’s been having. He reminded me how long it’s been since I’ve had any. It made me start to miss my hometown Chicago, and one of my favorite dishes while growing up, Poutine Burgers!

Poutine - Canadian Food

What is poutine? If you are not Canadian or from the north, then it’s acceptable that you don’t know what poutine is. Poutine is a common Canadian dish that originated in Quebec. It consist of french fries, light-brown gravy and cheese curds. Of course Americans, especially in Chicago, decided to bump up the original poutine and create a poutine burger.

I decided to make a recipe for the Poutine Sliders because it’s a great appetizer treat to make for you and your friends.

Poutine Slider Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

10 small buns (5 if you want open face sliders)

butter (at room temperature)

4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese

2 cups cooked French fries (preferably thick cut)

2 cups hot chicken gravy (purchased or homemade) or 2 cups beef gravy (purchased or homemade)

Directions:

1) Mix ground beef with salt and pepper and form into 10 patties, grill to desired doneness.

2) In the meantime, shred the cheese so it will melt better. Open the buns and spread butter on each side, grill until lightly browned.

3) Place cooked patties on the grilled buns. Add the shredded cheese then hot fries to each burger and pour on a generous helping of gravy. Serve hot.
